Mike –
Looks good!
Just an FYI, I get a *lot* of hits from folks reading the Darwine article. Really need to have that new Wine Bottler working so I can update it!
Thanks, Mike.

Thanks for compiling the Mac version of wine, it’s a real lifesaver!
This last version only came with a little weird problem: the command-line wine binary don’t seem to be working properly. When I try to start a windows APP from the shell, I’m getting weird errors like this:
err:module:attach_process_dlls “gdi32.dll” failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L”C:\\windows\\system32\\winemenubuilder.exe” failed, status c0000005
err:module:attach_process_dlls “gdi32.dll” failed to initialize, aborting
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L”C:\\windows\\Microsoft.NET\\Framework\\v2.0.50727\\mscorsvw.exe” failed, status c0000005
Those errors don’t occur if I just doubleclick the same applications.
I usually use the command-line wine combined with Platypus to create bundles of Windows applications, so they run seamlessly almost like an Mac application. Like this one:

Hi, Mike,
I have recently purchased my first macbook pro and have been working on ensuring that I am able to access the things that I need to. Good news is that I came across MANY websites recommending your solutions Winebottler and Wine. Bad news is that when I open my internet explorer, it is just a blank page. I wanted to find a discussion page where others may have done troubleshooting but could not locate one. If you could direct me to where one would be or assist in my issue, I would really appreciate it. Thank you for the work you have put in on these solutions thus far!

Hi. Great application. Do you have a forum where i can ask a question so i don’t clutter the comments.
My question is related to command line arguments. I have “Beyond Compare” running very well but i would like to launch the Bottle from another app. Beyond Compare like any other comparison application will take 2 command line args with the 2 file paths to compare. Is there a way to pass 2 args to the Bottle and get the exe to launch from the terminal. I see that when i create the bottle i can pass some command line arguments but i want to pass different arguments on every launch. Thanks. Barry.

Hey Mike,
Great job. I have been wanting to try Wine for so long. But never dared to install it using macports. This just did the job for me
I couldn’t contain my excitement when I saw my favs like Winmerge and WinSCP run on
my Mac OS X 10.6. I haven’t been able to find good open source replacements for these on Mac and now I don’t need any
Thank you so much.
Keep up the GREAT work !!!
Cheers (with Wine)

I have a Mac with a PowerPC processor. Will the WineBottler software work on my computer or only those with an Intel processor? I apologize if I’m not leaving this question in the correct place. I couldn’t find a spot for questions on the Web site.

Mike, thank you very much for WineBottler.
I have two issues
1. I can’t update ElsterFormular. It says “You have no Admin privileges, log in as Adminitrator”.
2. Could you please add an EAC prefix as standard? I couldn’t figure out how to install any version of Exact audio copy on my own. The current version does not register the DLLs: http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=25340#c8
Thanks a lot,
regards
Michael

Hi Mike,
With the current mix (Wine1.2.2/WineBottler1.1.44) I have been able to successfully bottle several (well-behaved) Windows apps. Some MSIEs work, others doen’t:). Safari for PC seems to work but lacks the menu bar and sometimes starts with the message: “A serious error occurred…”.
My question is about the responsiveness to mouse clicks under X-Window:
1. I have experienced a slightly different paradigm in that often extra clicks are necessary, just to activate certain widgets, e.g., text input fields etc. Some of this behavior may be just plain Windows behavior, of which it is known that one needs more clicks to perform the same actions.
2. I am aware of an ongoing project to eventually replace the X-Window x11drv with a non-X11, probably more quartz native, display server.
Q: Will the new windowing backend eventually provide a smoother, more Mac-like clicking experience?
Thanks for your kind response.
Thanks for your excellent implementation of Wine and certainly of WineBottler, and I hope you will continue this commendable effort.

Hi Mike, do you know if the projet letting wine work without x11 make some movement. It’s like dead. Since rumors about lion not implementing x11 make a dead end for wine if not adapt to osX… And by the way, news on the progress of your projects
